Preserving Spare Parts: Bearings 

Spare parts are your project’s insurance policy, but they are only valuable if they work when you need them. From precision bearings to critical gaskets and seals, P3 provides the specialized VCI technology and mechanical protection required to prevent "shelf-rot" and corrosion in long-term storage.

Standard warehouses are often subject to temperature fluctuations, humidity, and airborne contaminants. Without proper preservation, high-precision spare parts can develop micro-corrosion that leads to catastrophic failure upon installation. To maintain the integrity of precision-machined spare parts during long-term storage, follow the P3 Integrated Preservation System:

Materials:

• Project approved heat sealable VCI Anti-Corrosion Film
• Project approved cleaner/degreaser
• Desiccant
• Propane or Electric Heat Shrink Gun
• Heat shrink tape

Preservation Procedure:

1. Decontamination: Thoroughly clean and degrease the asset using project-approved cleaners. Any existing surface oxidation must be neutralized before sealing.

2. VCI Encapsulation: Line the storage crate with high-mil, heat-sealable VCI Anti-Corrosion Film. Ensure sufficient overlap to allow for a complete "envelope" seal around the asset.

3. Active Desiccation: Place project-specified desiccant bags inside the VCI envelope to manage any residual internal moisture.

4. Hermetic Heat Sealing: Utilize an industrial heat gun to shrink the VCI film. This process creates a tight, form-fitting barrier that activates the VCI molecules, protecting all metal surfaces within the enclosure.

5. Reinforcement: Use high-adhesion heat shrink tape to secure folds and prevent punctures during handling.
