Preserving Beveled Pipe Spools

Pipe spool cleanliness is paramount for pipe spools associated with rotating equipment, process critical fluid codes, and stainless-steel pipe. Keep the pipe spool beveled edge from rusting will also reduce bevel prep./grinding during fit-up.

Materials:

• pipeCOVER
• batROLL Tape
• Leaf Blower
• Project approved rust remover
• Soft Bristle wire brush or Scotch Brite pad
• Paint brush
• Weldable Primer-If approved in welding specification

Procedure:

1. Blow out debris/water from pipe spool using a leaf blower
2. Remove/clean any bevel surface rust using approved rust remover
3. Apply weldable primer on field butt-weld end preparation surfaces using a paintbrush
4. Apply correct size pipeCOVER
5. Apply batROLL tape on the sides and around the back of the pipeCOVER
